speaking of peace, this Christmas day
wrestling with the concept as if the garment didn't fit
a voice on the radio urges listeners to wage peace, rather than war
as if the same old path would lead to a different door...

wrestling with the concept as if the garment didn't fit,
paying lip service to a god we secretly deny,
as if the same old path would lead to a different door,
despite all indications otherwise, what we seem to understand is war.

This is a song I wrote about a Marine machinegunner vet that served in Afganistan,

Heavy fucken bitch always on my back
Only happy in a full blown attack
I'm a slave to her will ya know what I mean?
A fire blowing lead throwing killing machine

To take, her only purpose
gimme, gimme, more
I love her / hate her
penetrator / filthy whore

Grand piano sing me a tune
About a dying face in the moon.
Kill me a thousand notes in D sharp
And sign it off to the sake of making art.
My plastic heart wants their fleshy parts to suffer the same as I,
But I know that place ‘cause I’ve fixed my gaze on their cuts and cried.

Speak this swampwater song, sordid lullaby, “so long,”
Steal away in the daytime, a mist hides my face is gone.
Corridor leading to the caller calling leaden lips to the witness,
Who can be this fallen bleeding girl? Oh, my sweetness!

Two’s tonality, and three’s credulity-
A pair’s exclusivity lost on my naïveté
That I could be, well, see…never mind it.

A single note sought for a key
A rhythm and a harmony
Split your lips to whisper a kiss
From your heart through your fingertips
Don’t stutter……

Shape the words, don’t speak,
Forget me

And another just pining on.
What’s not good is right for me
A chord uncut, bound by faith, conceive.

She was just sixteen
when she became the girl of my dreams
though I was too young to ask why

She came from the boulevard of broken dreams
though her world was tender and dry
ever she walked with a smile

So many nights she slept in my dreams
her arms kept the cold away for another day
as I felt my nightmares drifting away

One day she and her folks left the neighbourhood
no one around knew why of what
my days were suddenly gloomy and dark
Oh, how I missed her smile

But she was only sixteen
too distant to know why I might have been
and I was too shy to say
she was the light in my dreams
the moon in my sleep
and still I sit here wondering why.

how do you go about developing your melodies? and i don't mean the cadence necessarily.. i mean the actual melodies..
the up and down of the notes?
do you have any particular way that you go about doing this?

She’s a cool Goth angel
splattered on the floor,
pictured dead in her long black dress.
She’s made this statement before.
Even when I’m on acid,
she keeps that shade of red
all around her bone white face,
like roses growing out of her head.

Damn!
Who would be her man?

Well, I guess I am.

She’s faking death by aggression.
That photo is a sign of the times
kinda like my obsession.
So don’t you say it’s a crime
when I can get over
and put her under me.

skin art statement

I don't need a skin art statement, to let you know baby, where I been.
There's a yin and yang scar on my left middle finger about the size of a baby aspirin.
I focus on it when things are quiet, and I can chew a tequila worm,
and I try to figure out where on earth I could've got that weird ass burn.
Maybe it don't mean a god damn thing
Maybe it's the mark of Cain
Maybe I'm a prophet of the end of things,
or maybe I'm just insane.
Maybe I was probed by aliens one night on a darkened road
and they marked me with this stupid brand, and one day I'll just explode.
Could have happened when I was hallucinating on that exotic fuckin' dope
that we wrapped in a page of Revelations while making gin toasts to the pope.
Maybe some damn orderly had some fun at that awful place
where you thought I'd stay locked away. Man you shoulda seen your face
when one year later I returned to claim what was left of my stash.
How they stuttered like a grinder's monkey, and paid me off in cash.

Do you know that if you place a frog in water in a pan
Then you heat them on a stove as slowly as you can
The frog will stay he won’t jump out, programmed to aclamate
‘Till his eyes blow out his head, I guess it was his fate

Frog in a Pan at the hand of a man
I hope it’s not too late, ‘cause I wanna change my fate
I gotta make the jump; I pray I don’t go thump
But I’m slippin’ through his hands; I’m not a Frog in a Pan

Do you know how they catch monkeys to sell them to a zoo?
They trick them with a coconut; I’ll tell you what they do
A hole is made with rice inside, they stake it to the ground
His open hand just fits inside, he grabs the rice he found
And holding tight his monkey fist, refusing to let go
Here come men in uniform to bag him for the show!

Monkey in a cage and he’s headed for a stage
I hope it’s not too late ‘cause I wanna change my fate
I gotta make a move, a cage is not my groove
And I’m sneaking past this stage, I’m not a monkey in cage!

There’s a test that someone did with these mice upon a grid
And a wire to the floor, and a switchman at the door
And he’s sending random shocks, making notes around the clock
Mice in different groups, they were each in separate coups
The first group had a bell and a warning they could tell
The next mice had a light showing voltage was in sight
But the third group had no sign, shock surprised them every time
Skin disease and loss of hair, cancer stress and chaos there
They committed mousey murder, not behaving as they ought’r

Mouse on a grid doesn’t know just what he did
I hope it’s not too late ‘cause I wanna change my fate
I gotta change my scene to a place that’s more serene
And I should have kept well-hid, I’m not a mouse on grid!

Lessons learned from mice in labs, monkey clinches what he grabs
Don’t become a froggy stew, jump before he’s eating you!

I’m not a Frog in a Pan at the hand of a man
I hope it’s not too late, ‘cause I wanna change my fate
I gotta make the jump, and I pray I don’t go thump
And I’m slippin’ through his hands; I’m not a Frog in a Pan!

I know the prayer that the monsters would pray
“May justice never find me, may the truth keep away.”
If I can’t be forgiven, then may I be ignored
May the beast that sleeps inside me never wake again to roar.

Bad drugs and bad ideas, some that found fruition
found their way to my embrace by way of bad decision.
Yeah I was abused, and yeah I wanted blood
to fall upon my fathers house- cause one unholy flood.

Yeah, I wanted war, so I could taste the spoils:
rape and kill all innocence, strike all the Jobs with boils,
robbing from the Rich, and pissing on the poor
and bring the fires of hell to the Church’s own front door,

to set off all destruction, blacken all in flame
to make bloody all the rivers with the saints that praised god’s name
to dine on flesh of babies, and drink of virgin’s blood
in the spirit of the giants that reigned before The Flood.

See, madness knows no reason, and Reason isn't all
that its cracked up to be when those devils call.
I think I found a conscience, but it’s fifty years too late
to undo all the damage I have caused because of hate.

That’s the reason for this mill stone tied around my neck
as I kneel here by the river, face to face with a wreck
that stares out of the water with a feral smile.
Yeah, what good is the gospel if spoke by the devil’s child?

A Warning

I came up with the idea of this after hearing about the Columbine massacres. It facinated me because I was in the same position in high school as these two guys. The only difference is, I kept my murderous thoughts to myself. I did own a trenchcoat, however, that I wore constantly.

Got directed here via a friend invite (I always check out the tribes that people belong too when receiving invites) Anyway I wrote these lyrics in a thunder storm in the early hours of August 2005 whilst on the Rose and Jasmine camping site Abpara Islamabad, Pakistan. I had just returned from Sharda (Abode of Goddess Sharda in the Neelam Valley (where the Earthquake hit a month later. interestingly I left the East coast of India a week before the Tsunami).

The lyrics were written with the Jose Feliciano tune rain in mind, but if you like em and can use them then please do (and in the amasingly unlikely event you make any money from them send my share of the royalties to the Pakistan Earthquake relief)

Frost Bitten Strife

Staggering in the labyrinth of spotted confusion
I linger on the glass edge of another’s dark abyss
And whorled into a frothed cradle of constipated lies
Strangled within fragmented shards of poisoned deception
I now realize our blue-collar life was mere illusion
Metamorphous of all I thought real transformed amiss
And fumbled handoffs sang silent of tumulus goodbyes
Revealing my narrow tunnel of clouded perception

Trampled aware with the rained force of stampeding bison
And thrown mame by the wallowing of self-pity and pain
A glimpse of shrouded meaning springs forth on the horizon
Speakin’ of a time when sunshine illuminated the insane
Fallen icicles stand tall and proud in my shattered life
Leavin’ behind a dehydrated heart and frost bitten strife

The Distance To A Moment

Oh, the time I've wasted
Watching those baby
Blue eyes buried inside
Indecent books, the tasks
Tallied in that little black
Book, that never were acceptably
Accomplished by either pretty
Party, laying together
Tongiht in this very bed.

Consummation, a dirty
Dirge of a word among
Adults that causes
Caution and need for
Further worry, seems
So fitting fo an evening
Enveloped in lusty, frustrating
Fury, such a new
Noun for a universal moment!

And after it all, the nearly
New sun rises upon something
So different from the night before,
Beauty, personified in
Incredible splendor within
Wide inches and crooked miles
Melting between us,
Under no duress or strain,
Stains with a kiss on both of our lips.

Time returns to normal, only just a bit more bearable.

The Fray

No easy way out
Standing in the fray
Makes me want to shout

In this place in time
Which way will I go
Standing in the fray
The only path I know

Will she let me in to her heart
Or will she shut me out just to tear me apart

Standing in the fray
Wanting peace of mind
Always holding back
Hoping she will find me at her side

There is no wiggle room
The point of no return
Standing in the fray
Another lesson learned

In this dark of night
The balance and the glow
Standing in the fray
The only path I know

Hello folks, my name is ROsh. i live in Boulder Colorado.

I working on my deepest gift to the world which for me currently is creating something I call Authentic Affluence for my life and to inpsire others. Authentic Affluence:
"Authentic" being true to your art, your passion, your deepest purpose, your big dream, your music, the feeling in your gut that says, "I Must Live The Life I Imagine or I will suffer greatly!" and Affluence: Finding abundance emotionally and financially through your authentic purpose.

It amazes me sometimes that I am
The eyes of an infinite god
A conception of a conception
Postulating infinity
Consciousness has made me aware
Of my natural perfection
Lauda a Dominum

It amazes me still that we live
Many times I watch pain and delight
And exquisite terror dissolve
Leaving only light
Circulating infinitely
Exchanging information
Halos and flame

Upon that, veils are laid
I see you but not,
For my vision is incomplete
Born consumed with questions
Such that we cannot see answers,
It is time to open our eyes
And truly be.

Sometimes as we walk wasteland highways
Conduits of perception and emotion
We find in the smallest things
The sameness we crave
Pure drug, and false life
We dig ourselves into a home
And make for ourselves realities born of want.

I find in you a being so unlike myself,
So fresh in every way,
And yet,
So familiar.
Like our shadows, we follow one another
Down the labyrinth of mind
Into the quiet coves,
Resonant with understanding.

Quell your judgments.
They’ll not serve you here,
Between perception and love,
That place where minds couple
And in climax find resolution in a common thought.
You are not bad.
You merely are.
I know you like I know few others,
And though you can’t believe me,
I assure you that you knew me
Once
Until you were exiled from the coves by Father Time.

What it is I’m waiting for?
I’m waiting for you to know me
So we can begin again
In our silent, furtive meditation.
I’m waiting for you to unravel me
That I may spin myself anew
And cast the first stitch
Upon a needle of recognition.

Forget who you were and see who you are.
We are gods, rulers of entire perceptions.
Waiting for the word, we perch upon our image,
Like Harpies ready to defile ourselves in the name of You.
So, shall I pull the first thread or shall you?
When all is done, and tomorrow arrives
We can begin again, in silent meditation.

The corporation drives me to despair
I keep wondering what brought us to here
Help me understand
How did things get so bad

All I wanted was to write my own songs
Somehow I ended up in places I didn't belong

Was it all out of our control
Or could we have turned this ship around
It's sad to see through all these turbulent times
Now we're so lost there is only one way out

This corporation keeps me awake at night
Counting all the wrongs and can't justify the right

THE CALM

When the storm sets its sights on me I feel hopeful
Maybe, just maybe I can build and build a way out. . .

Three parts an idiot running blindly
Trying to fill the mystery and fuel the next move,
Harlequiin dancing in a crowd with his own enigmatic
Device to lure, different but effective

Building fustration, can't it always be the calm
Before the storm, the constant building
And the eventual emptiness, never ceases to
Bewilder and makes me want it all again

Never quite satisfied with the ways I travel
The trickster does lay down deep inside
Mixing all the signals, what seems to be
An ecstasy is nothing more than release

Can I keep this confusion building?
A torture I call the norm
Eventually myself will empty
And all across this body the dials will roll back
Allowing it to run a similar ellipse

It all starts with an image, a touch
Then the haunt I'll never get to where my mind is heading
I want to push straight on ahead,
Make myself satisfied, I push to hard
And break on through, all the pleasures spill out
So with aching void I end up at the beginning

The calm before the storm
The emptiness before the burning torrent
The unsatisfied,
Fragmented pleasures do not total to a perfect ending
Why the swirling thoughts bring the expectation I will never know
I will never know how I got here
A rumination on unattainable intangible abstracts
Crippling what once was. . .
