Frog in a Pan

Do you know that if you place a frog in water in a pan
Then you heat them on a stove as slowly as you can
The frog will stay he won’t jump out, programmed to aclamate
‘Till his eyes blow out his head, I guess it was his fate

Frog in a Pan at the hand of a man
I hope it’s not too late, ‘cause I wanna change my fate
I gotta make the jump; I pray I don’t go thump
But I’m slippin’ through his hands; I’m not a Frog in a Pan

Do you know how they catch monkeys to sell them to a zoo?
They trick them with a coconut; I’ll tell you what they do
A hole is made with rice inside, they stake it to the ground
His open hand just fits inside, he grabs the rice he found
And holding tight his monkey fist, refusing to let go
Here come men in uniform to bag him for the show!

Monkey in a cage and he’s headed for a stage
I hope it’s not too late ‘cause I wanna change my fate
I gotta make a move, a cage is not my groove
And I’m sneaking past this stage, I’m not a monkey in cage!

There’s a test that someone did with these mice upon a grid
And a wire to the floor, and a switchman at the door
And he’s sending random shocks, making notes around the clock
Mice in different groups, they were each in separate coups
The first group had a bell and a warning they could tell
The next mice had a light showing voltage was in sight
But the third group had no sign, shock surprised them every time
Skin disease and loss of hair, cancer stress and chaos there
They committed mousey murder, not behaving as they ought’r


Mouse on a grid doesn’t know just what he did
I hope it’s not too late ‘cause I wanna change my fate
I gotta change my scene to a place that’s more serene
And I should have kept well-hid, I’m not a mouse on grid!

Lessons learned from mice in labs, monkey clinches what he grabs
Don’t become a froggy stew, jump before he’s eating you!
